This programme will be delivered through blended learning - combining Instructor led classroom and live-virtual training, consisting of a set of three training modules addressing topics that arise in:
1) Project planning & design
2) Selection & appointment of construction technical professionals and contractors/specialists
3) Contract management of public works services and construction contracts used to deliver public works projects in accordance with the CWMF.
This programme will be interactive, comprising group exercises, debates/discussion, applied case studies and examples relating to the course topics and participants’ working situations.
This programme is aimed at project co-ordinators, project managers, and members of works project teams along with other public servants whose roles are/will be concerned with the planning, procurement or management of public works projects, including building and civil engineering projects.
We encourage participants to complete the self-directed eLearning course: ‘An Introduction to Public Works Procurement', which is currently available on the CSA Learning Management System: https://csa.gov.ie, or to have an equivalent level of knowledge based on their training or work experience.
Participants are expected to have some background or understanding of managing projects and be interested in gaining an understanding of the key requirements and activities to be carried out, including the best practice approaches to apply throughout the life cycle of a public works project.
Each of the three intensive training modules will be delivered over two full consecutive days. Participants will complete the six-day programme over a three-week period.
The Practitioner Training programme will be delivered in conjunction with the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI). This programme will commence in January 2027.
CPD points will be awarded on completion of the programme.
