Wholesale Price Index – CSO Note

Wholesale price indices are calculated using responses from a selection of companies are that are surveyed by the CSO each month. It is vital that if your company is requested to complete a survey by the Central Statistics Office that you do so, in order that the statistics that we supply to the nation and all interested parties are accurate and cover the items that reflect the Irish economy.

Surveyed companies report the prices of a selection of their most popular products to the Central Statistics Office. Products may not be included in the price survey for two different reasons: either the supplier does not participate in the survey, or the product is not one of the products that they report on. These indices combine data received from many companies and are designed to capture trends in prices at producers and wholesalers for groups of products rather than on an individual product level.
